pony_girlAs I have mentioned in prior posts – A question that always comes back is whether online BDSM could be considered as real.

We are going to do a series of articles based on this question were we discuss the differences and evaluate the online BDSM phenomena in comparison with real life BDSM. I personally don’t like the usage of the word “real” in this context as I believe it creates an unnecessary polarisation. The common connotation is that something that is “real” is more valuable compared to something that is “not real”. Just think about the discussion regarding online friends compared to real life friends that you meet and interact with.

How many of you have had to explain to other people that your online friends feel as real as your real life friends?

To me there is no difference when it comes to the level of friendship – I just interact with my online friends in a different way.

So from now on I will use the words online mediated BDSM versus non-mediated BDSM, instead of real and online BDSM, and I am doing this to avoid the unnecessary polarisation where an unwanted value saying “real is better than something that is not real” sneaks into the discussion.  I am convinced, by experience, that online mediated BDSM can create the same emotional responses and psychological reactions as non mediated BDSM.

What we are going to look at in our upcoming posts is if you can dominate someone across a distance, online, and how this is done.

We start this off by doing a poll -  We want to know about your opinion when it comes to doing online BDSM

What is your opinion about online BDSM?

BDSM happens in u just becuase u forgot how to worship god… our instinct tells we are constantly in need of support from a divine source that s why BDSM people whether ur a dom or a sub are struggling to quench this feeling they got inside….

Why would you label BDSM as voilent behaviour? So your thesis is that you engage in BDSM because you have forgot to worship God, how well does that go together with all the wars that have been started by people who claims to be good christians?

I am not sure if you know about the dynamics in a BDSM based relationship. I claim that you will find very loving and caring people within the BDSM community – BDSM and voilence are far from each other. What you are expressing is a typical outsider perspective and I understand that a lot of activities within BDSM looks like voilence, but it is not – That is your lack of knowledge taking you for a ride.

Throughout human history, and in many diverse religious and spiritual cultures, there have been variants of the argument “people do XYZ because they are not worshiping the Divine as they should.”

Among the targets of such judgements have been: Art. Music. Science. Philosophy. Sex. Question authority. Worship on Sunday. Worship on Saturday. Worship on Friday. Use zippers. Cut their hair. Support literacy and public education. Use electricity. Use medicine. Dance. Eat pork. Eat beef. Eat animals and birds. Drink coffee. Wear wool and linen at the same time. Wear hats. Don’t wear hats. And BDSM.

BDSM is a diverse set of expressions of human sexuality and eroticism possible for competent, aware, consenting adults. It is not the flavor for everyone. It might surprise you to hear that extremely aware ethical caring and smart people practice BDSM but that is my experience. If you are curious and have questions as to how that can be, ask.
