Daddy Grey (AKA Master Grey and Catfooted) has been an active participant in the leather community for many years. In the course of those years, he has observed, instructed, been instructed, mentored, counseled and had need for mentoring and counsel. He passed away Oct 11th 2009 after a long battle with cancer, in the company of his M/s household and members of his leather family and friends.
He valued what he was taught by those who welcomed him into the Leather community, and showed his respect not only by documenting some of the old practices but in teaching and mentoring. His service to the community included leading discussions and workshops as well as participating in many groups and events on a regular basis. Among the many BDSM and Leather clubs and events which benefited from his contributions were Threshold, Lair de Sade, the Los Angeles Brothers in Dominance, LA Dommes and subs, SoCalBound, Folsom Fringe, Seattle’s the Wet Spot, the M/s conference, and both the SouthWest and South Plains Leather gatherings. He traveled often to meet others in the Lifestyle.
Daddy Grey led and co-led events with such topics as How to Develop and Maintain Successful D/s Relationships, SM as Art, Decorative SM, Gender Concepts, BDSM Myths and Realities. Even a casual reading of such of his writings on the Internet reveals a vibrant mind with a wicked sense of humor, a deep sense of honor, and a willingness to challenge his own beliefs as well as that of others; his opinions changed over the years, and he was not at all embarrassed for this to be an example to others. He was a creative man, who loved sharing knowledge and developing both his own skills and those of others. He made strong impressions on those lucky enough to meet him.
A celebration of his life will be held October 31st 2009 at Threshold. This article was researched by Cloud, who will attend.

The celebration of life was extremely moving. Aside from what has already been mentioned above, two other aspects of Daddy Grey seemed evident from people’s recollections: he was a remarkably empathetic man. And a creative, enthusiastic sadist who enjoyed being an evil bastard.
Yes, I am smiling, eyes lowered.
